Youjin Lee, PhD Parker Bridge Fellow Biography Youjin Lee is a Parker Bridge Fellow and a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Alexander Marson, MD, PhD, at the Gladstone–UCSF Institute of Genomic Immunology. Dr. Lee developed a novel spatially linked single-cell sequencing platform, called XYZeq, using an intrahepatic tumor model. Obtaining single-cell transcriptomic data while capturing the positional context of the cells in the tissue permits the characterization of cellular heterogeneity that reveals cell states, circuits and behavior. She intends to employ XYZeq alongside CRISPR-based tools to map the evolving crosstalk between the tumor and the tumor-infiltrating immune cells. In essence, the goal is to establish causality in the tumor immune response with respect to spatial relationships in order to gain insights into the specific components, pathways and processes. Enhancing our comprehension of this intricate interaction may expedite the development of improved immunotherapy treatment options for patients diagnosed with malignant carcinomas. Dr. Lee completed her PhD in immunology at Harvard University, conducting research in the laboratory of Vijay Kuchroo DVM, PhD. During her doctoral studies, she elucidated the molecular signature of pathogenic and non-pathogenic Th17 cells in an animal model of multiple sclerosis. View Dr. Lee’s YouTube Short.
