The Parker Institute Applauds the Senate’s Agreement for Increased NIH Funding
The Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy fully supports the Senate’s agreement of a $2 billion increase in funding for the National Institutes of Health. In our recent opinion piece in STAT News, we called for a renewed commitment to federal funding for biomedical research. This increase demonstrates that advancing scientific research and discovery is a top priority for our nation’s leaders. We applaud the Senate for taking this step, and we recognize that we must all play a role if we want continue to be a world leader in innovation. It is critical that all sectors from the biomedical ecosystem — industry, government, academia and philanthropy sponsored research and development — invest in research to get profound breakthrough treatments to more patients faster.
