John K Lee MD, PhD Associate Professor-in-Residence, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine and Institute for Urologic Oncology, Department of Urology - David Geffen School of Medicine Biography John K. Lee is a physician-scientist and Associate Professor-in-Residence in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine and Institute for Urologic Oncology, Department of Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He received an AB magna cum laude in Biochemical Sciences at Harvard University and an MD at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, during which he participated in the HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program. Dr. Lee completed his clinical training in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center and medical oncology as a Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) fellow in medical oncology at UCLA, where he obtained a PhD from the Molecular Biology Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Owen Witte. Dr. Lee specializes in the clinical care of patients with advanced genitourinary cancers. His laboratory program is focused on developing/optimizing cellular immunotherapy strategies for prostate and bladder cancer and enhancing the immunogenicity of solid tumors. Dr. Lee is the recipient of an NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator and Challenge Awards, Society for Basic Urologic Research Young Investigator and Eula and Donald S. Coffey Innovative Research Awards, Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network Research Innovation Award, American Society for Clinical Investigation Young Physician-Scientist Award and multiple awards from the U.S. Department of Defense.
