Rogelio Hernandez-Lopez, PhD

Rogelio Hernandez-Lopez, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Bioengineering and of Genetics at Stanford University, a member of Stanford Bio-X, and a Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator. Dr. Hernandez-Lopez received his PhD in Chemical Physics at Harvard University, where he worked in the Leschziner Lab on the mechanisms of the microtubule-based motors dynein and kinesin. During his postdoctoral research in the Lab of Wendell Lim at UCSF, Dr. Hernandez-Lopez was a fellow of the Cancer Research Institute and UCMEXUS. His work focused on engineering novel T cell therapies for cancer treatment.

Dr. Hernandez-Lopez is also a co-founder of Clubes de Ciencia Mexico and Science Clubs International, non-profit organizations that aim to expand access to high-quality STEM education and collaborative international networks.

Dr. Hernandez-Lopez was a recipient of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award at the Scientific Interface in 2021. He was named an Anderson Faculty Fellow from the School of Engineering at Stanford and a V Foundation scholar in 2022.
